I don’t often do political posts. It’s not that I don’t like politics. I’m actually a bit of a political junkie. It’s just that being a public forum, there is no telling who will happen upon my blog. I take comments from anyone who cares to leave one, and as such, I don’t write a lot of politics because I don’t want to read the mindless drivel that passes as wisdom these days. Some of the comments that have been left on my blog in the past have made me heave and run in search of a brick wall to bang my head against. In short, I don’t write political posts because you are too stupid to read them.
In all seriousness though, I have always considered my politics to be my own, and I don’t often care to share them. But I’ll go ahead and make an exception, because I think this election was historic.

Yeah, we’ve all heard that before, right? Historic, I mean. You know…a black man, blah, blah, blah. Well that’s not what I’m talking about. I believe that this election was historic, but not because of Obama. I think it was more about Bush.

Bush ran for office as a conservative and governed as a moderate. Guest worker program? Drugs for seniors? Harriot Myers? These are not conservative principles. Bush was instrumental in getting rid of Trent Lott, and somewhat so with Tom Delay as well. He was instrumental in installing Bill Frist as Majority leader. And his “tax rebate” program was borderline Marxist. Add to that the massive deficit spending and the Chief Justice that he installed, and it is clear that Bush was anything but a Conservative.

And then came McCain. Obama was correct in saying that McCain would continue the policies of the Bush administration. All of his hype about “four more years” of Bush’s failed policies was dead on. Because McCain is a moderate, too. To be fair, he tossed Palin into the mix to try to passify the right, but his fundamental problem was that he is anything but a conservative.

NeoConservatism was dealt a resounding “No” this year. The Republican Party turned it’s back on the base and took a beating because of it. Newt won a majority in both houses of Congress and Bush squandered it. This is the legacy of the Bush administration.

This election year is turning out to be one for the books. Not because a black man ran against a woman in the Democrat Primary. And not because the Republicans decided to run a closet-Democrat on their ticket.
No, I’m talking about Sarah Palin

I always thought that women in politics were supposed to be all old and nasty. Take for example Geraldine Ferraro

Or Nancy Pelosi

Or Hillary Clinton

They just got nothing.

Yeah, I can see the hatemail now. But you just can’t tell me that when you first saw Sarah Palin you didn’t sit up in the chair and say “Holy crap! She is HOT”

If she were an ice cream flavor, she’d be pralines, and SCHWING!
